Born in Genoa, Marco Zambelli began his musical studies at the Conservatorio “Niccolò Paganini”, studying organ before continuing with Lionel Rogg at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève, where he was awarded the Premier Prix de Virtuosité. Following these formative years, he held the positions of Chorus Master and subsequently Head of Music at the Opéra de Lyon, working alongside distinguished conductors, before embarking on an international conducting career spanning opera, symphonic and sacred choral repertoire. He has worked with leading orchestras and opera companies across Europe and beyond, collaborating with leading instrumentalists and singers. His approach is grounded in listening, attention to sound, and a close relationship between score, performers and theatrical space. Alongside his international career, he founded and directed I Concerti Spirituali del Gonfalone in Genoa, a project rooted in continuity, mutual listening and shared artistic responsibility.
